Literati Press Bookshop

Literati Press was founded in 2010 as a subculture publisher dedicated to Oklahoma's innovative storytellers, publishing comics, fiction and poetry by regional artists. The Literati Press Bookshop opened in 2016 inside the historic Paseo Plunge, a 1930s public swimming pool building in the Paseo Arts District, and expanded into combined storefronts nearby in 2024. In 2025 the Writers Co-op became a legal cooperative taking community ownership of the press, making it Oklahoma's first community-owned bookshop. The shop stocks a curated mix of fiction, nonfiction, poetry and graphic novels, including works by and about Oklahomans and its own Literati Comics titles. Alongside the books are prints, pins, jewelry, stickers and other gifts crafted by local artists. Reviewers describe the collection as 'like walking into someone's living room' and praise the staff's knowledgeable recommendations. Literati Press hosts a steady calendar of literary events: the Red Dirt Poetry Open Mic on Wednesday evenings, book clubs, story hours, and writers workshops such as Plot a Novel in an Hour. Its own recent releases include folk-horror and true-crime-inspired titles, and it has been listed by the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department (TravelOK) as an official OKC literary destination.
